Dr. Gary D. McKayGary D. McKay, Ph.D. is the co-author of 14 books and programs, including How You Feel Is Up To You, Calming the Family Storm, Body, Mind, and Spirit, and Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP). STEP is the world's leading parent education program. A retired psychologist and a diplomate in Adlerian Psychology (North American Society of Adlerian Psychology), McKay has taken his experience as a writer and psychologist and applied it to the writing of his first novel, A Shortage of Bodies.

Dr. McKay and his wife Joyce have lived in Tucson for 38 years. They originally moved to the Southwest in 1973 for McKay to earn his doctorate in counseling at the University of Arizona. Because his publication, Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP), became a worldwide bestseller, it allowed him to stay in Tucson, become self-employed, and continue to write. Dr. McKay's wife, Joyce, has co-authored some of the publications with Gary McKay and others.

As an international educational and psychological consultant, Gary McKay has conducted workshops in human relations, anger management, and parent/teacher study-group leader training in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
